Jackson Hole has increasingly excelled at educating their young. The Teton County School District consists of Jackson Hole Middle School for students in grades 6-8, Wilson Elementary School, and elementary schools for outlying communities in Kelly, Moran, and Alta. All told, enrollment in the public school district has been hovering between 2,250 and 2,275, while certified teaching staff numbers about 240.

In addition, Jackson Hole is home to two small private schools: the Jackson Hole Community School and the Journeys School, a branch of the Teton Science Schools.

Jackson Hole Community School serves grades nine to 12 with challenging academics, learning through discovery, a focus on environmental consciousness, excellent teachers and extracurricular activities.

The nonprofit Teton Science Schools were founded in 1967 in Kelly as a graduate program in environmental sciences with residential educational and other summer programs. In 2001, it opened its Journeys School, a pre-K-12th grade school that emphasizes in its objectives understanding and stewardship of the natural world. In 2005, the Journeys School moved to its new permanent home west of the town of Jackson on Coyote Canyon Road. The 880-acre campus also houses the Teacher Learning Center, Conservation Research Center and other educational programs.
