The nonprofit Teton Science Schools were founded in 1967 in Kelly as a graduate program in environmental sciences with residential educational and other summer programs. In 2001, it opened its Journeys School, a pre-K-12th grade school that emphasizes in its objectives understanding and stewardship of the natural world. In 2005, the Journeys School moved to its new permanent home west of the town of Jackson on Coyote Canyon Road. The 880-acre campus also houses the Teacher Learning Center, Conservation Research Center and other educational programs. Ultimately, the Journeys School plans to grow to serve 220 students, and the Teacher Learning Center will provide learning opportunities for school teachers from across the nation. Contact the Teton Science Schools at 733-1313, e-mail info@tetonscience.org, or visit www.tetonscience.org.
