Joan Anzelmo, a 30-year veteran of the National Park Service who has
served as public affairs chief at Grand Teton National Park for 13
years, will take on the position of Superintendent at Colorado National
Monument in May.
Colorado National Monument is situated in the Grand Valley region of
Colorado near Grand Junction and Fruita and features spectacular
plateaus and canyons.
“I am thrilled, honored, excited and a little terrified,” Anzelmo said.
“I am used to living in a community that loves their national park,”
she added, acknowledging that the communities surrounding the monument
feel the same way.
She looks forward to getting to know the staff and asking them what they view as the top issues for the monument.
