Healing Arts Center celebrates opening with Chinese New Year
Jackson Hole, Wyo.-Coinciding with the Chinese New Year, Wilson Acupuncture and Healing Arts Center hosts an opening party Thursday not only to launch the clinic, but to celebrate the year of the rat - which symbolizes the year to start new ventures with success.

The center, located in the Aspens, opens with a day full of free treatments for the community including two Qi Gong classes, communal/chair style acupuncture and Energy Light Rejuvenation treatments. Located amidst other practitioners of healthy lifestyle support, the new center provides Asian healing arts to treat all ailments both in private sessions and in community style acupuncture.

The center’s founder, acupuncturist Marcia Male, has been a nurse for 30 years, and she envisioned a Chinese medical center after completing her studies in Traditional Chinese Medicine. She said, “Having seen these centers in other parts of the nation, I became passionate about creating a center here that’s focused on Chinese Medicine - a visible, communal clinic where practitioners can work together.”

With her nursing work in hospitals, Male saw how working together in groups created healthy synergy. “Having the other practitioners working in the center sings to my soul; I really like to bring people together,” she said. “To have my clinic in Jackson and be able to service a variety of people in town with Chinese Medicine is my dream.”
The new center brings together three West Bank acupuncturists to provide Asian medicine services five days a week under one roof.

Angela Tong and Tamara Clauson join with Male to offer acupuncture and other healing arts. Collectively, they have 26 years of education in science and medicine among them, and all are national Diplomats of Acupuncture and Chinese Herbs. Tong will be in the clinic on Wednesdays and will continue to teach yoga classes at the Teton Yoga Shala where she is part owner; and Clausen brings her Celestial Crane Oriental Medicine business to the center.

Male envisions the new center as an active, busy place that’s a focused base for the healing arts. She is excited to bring community style acupuncture to Jackson, making treatments readily accessible to many. “I love living here, and I don’t want to be exclusive,” said Male. “There is a piece of our community that’s being missed, and this is an opportunity to serve them.”

Community acupuncture is a traditional approach in Asia, and treating patients in a community setting has many benefits. It is affordable and creates a collective, comforting energy field. It is ideal for stress reduction, anxiety, body pain, quitting smoking, or stopping other addictive behaviors. It is a good solution for those who cannot afford the cost of a private session or who need frequent treatments.
Every Tuesday and Thursday from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m., community acupuncture will be offered at the center with no appointment necessary on a sliding scale of $30 to $45, depending on what the patient can afford.

Private acupuncture treatments are offered five days a week, and those afraid of needles can choose from non-needle options like Qi Gong, herbal medicine and micro-current with color light. Male looks to provide more services to the community including an herbal supplement store.

Asian medicine is ideally used for prevention and treatment of illness. Acupuncture is for all ages and is used to treat everything from orthopedic difficulties and digestive problems to flu, coughs, and allergies. These treatments integrate easily with other methods of healing including chiropractic, physical therapy, massage, and western medicine.

Wilson Acupuncture and Healing Arts Center’s grand opening is 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. on Friday and it begins and ends with two free beginner Qigong classes held from 10–11 a.m. and 7-8 p.m. Free 30 minute communal/chair acupuncture and facial rejuvenation treatments will be offered all day to drop in patients from 11:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m.
