Jackson Hole, Wyo.-In times of great need and fear, Tibetan Buddhists turn to Tara, a female bodhisattva and goddess who, as the representative of the miraculous activities of all Buddhas, brings peace and protection.
The “21 Praises of Taras” is a tantra spoken by a Buddhist monk in verses of praise, one for each of the 21 emanations of Tara.
On the eve of Earth Week, the Earth Wisdom Foundation – headed by Eastern Shoshone younger elder Blue Thunder – brings Chokling Jigme Palden Rinpoche to speak the 21 Taras.
Depending on the school, the emanations appear in the same form, but in different color combinations. White is pacifying. Yellow is enriching. Red is subjugating. And black is eliminating. Mixed colors represent a combination of qualities.
Beginning his study at a young age and focusing on Dharma, Rinpoche started giving his teaches in 1990.
