Jackson Hole, Wyo.-The Jackson Hole Film Institute announced this week it would offer discounted pass rates to locals, available for a limited time beginning Thursday.
From April 3 through April 9, Wyoming ID holders can purchase these passes for the festival, which is set for June 5-9.
The Cinema Pass, regularly $200, will be offered to locals for $150. It guarantees admittance to screenings and film forum discussions. It grants priority seating to all regular, special and ‘best of’ the festival screenings, as well as access to the hospitality tent, where filmmakers and cinema aficionados have the opportunity to take a load off, mingle and enjoy a beverage or snack. The Cinema Pass includes admission to the award ceremony at the Center for the Arts.
For $360, locals can buy the full Festival Pass, saving 10 percent off the $400 regular price tag. Along with access provided by the Cinema Pass, the Festival Pass includes entry to a three nights of catered events.
This year’s opening night party, held amid the soaring vistas of Spring Creek Ranch, will celebrate the Film Fest’s fifth birthday. Mandatory Air will rock the tent and locals are encouraged to help welcome the visitors, many of whom will travel here from around the world.
The Filmmaker Gathering will see filmmakers and pass holders convene at Lyndsay McCandless Contemporary for drinks and finger foods before wandering off into the rarified air of Jackson Hole in June.
The grand finale World Party will be held again this year at Q Roadhouse. In keeping with the Latin American theme of this year’s World Program, the venerated Del Castillo band of Austin, Texas, will perform.
This year’s Jackson Hole Film Festival will see about 90 films from 24 countries, including feature-length, short, documentary, sport, and student-made films, as well as the range of humanitarian films in the Global Insight category. A list of all this year’s films should be available on the film festival website later this week.
“The programming is really strong this year,” said Todd Rankin, managing director for the Jackson Hole Film Institute.
The inaugural film fest partnership with the United Nations will help usher in a higher profile of attendees and panelists, including UN Secretary General Ban Ki-moon, who will deliver a keynote address. Tickets for that speech are not included in festival passes and must be purchased separately at the Center for the Arts box office.
