Jackson Hole, Wyo.-Marjane Satrapi was a child in Iran when the Islamic Revolution turned religious choices into state-mandated behaviors. Azar Nafisi was a college literature professor. They each survived the revolution by fleeing the country and writing about their experiences, Satrapi in the graphic novel, Persepolis, and Nafisi in the memoir Reading Lolita in Tehran.
Both books will be on topic in separate discussions at Teton County Library next week (registration required). Then, Nafisi will appear in Jackson later next week for the library’s Page to the Podium presentation (more on this in next week’s issue of JH Weekly).
Reading Lolita will be discussed 5:30 to 6:30 p.m., Persepolis, 6 to 7 p.m., March 22, at Teton County Library. 733-2164.
