Tyrannosaurus Rex got around. The discovery of dinosaur footprints in Wyoming is not any great news; evidence of the beasts abound in the Cowboy State. But what if the fossilized footprints of some species were found to be perfect matches for some recently discovered in England?
News agency ShortNews.com in Germany is reporting that dinosaur footprints discovered in Skye, UK have matched those found in Wyoming, indicating the same or similar species of dinosaur. Research leader Dr. Neil Clark said the evidence strongly backs the theory that the U.S. and UK once formed part of the same land mass.

The University of Wyoming is on the hunt for a new football coach. Matt Joyce’s AP story appeared in several sports-oriented papers with word that the Pokes’ head football coach, Joe Glenn, was fired after six seasons. The 59-year-old’s job had been rumored to be in jeopardy beginning the season, and after a disappointing 4-8 season (1-7 in the Mountain West), Athletic director Tom Burman announced the university would terminate Glenn’s contract.
The Cowboys had a winning record only once during Glenn’s tenure. Burman said UW would begin a national search for a coach.

The Jackson Hole Ski Resort’s “tram-formation” is getting more hype. The eagerly anticipated unveiling of the new tram at JHMR received its latest press from Arkansas Online. “For 40 years, snagging a spot on Jackson Hole’s ‘First Tram’ was one of Western skiing’s enduring rituals,” wrote award-winning journalist Claire Walter on assignment for Arkansas Online.

On a mission, San Francisco Gate reporter Cameron Scott found the perfect example of loosening environmental regulations by the Bush administration right here in JH. The writer authors a regular column called the “Thin Green Line.” It pertains to environmental issues and delights in calling out so-called examples of environmental abuse.
He cited the decision to allow 720 snowmobiles per day in Yellowstone National Park for the next three years. Scott said he strongly supports a phase-out of all snowmobile use in Yellowstone and Grand Teton parks.
The decision follows a court order from U.S. District Court Judge Clarence Brimmer of Cheyenne. It was a surprise to many enviros who were working with the national parks on a number more like 318 sleds per day.

Judge Brimmer was a busy man over the past week. His eminence approved an agreement last week that allows religious prisoners at the state
penitentiary in Rawlins to keep their meals in their cells until the next meal is served. The decision will settle a lawsuit filed by the ACLU on behalf of two Muslim inmates who claim they did not have time to say their prayers and eat their meals. Under the old rule, the Wyoming Department of Corrections allowed inmates only 20 minutes to consume their food.
The decision also requires the prison to install a new microwave for inmates that won’t be used for pork, which is forbidden to Muslims and members of some other religions. The television story appeared on Local News 8.

Travel + Leisure recommended its top five “little ski towns in the U.S.” last week. Crested Butte, Colo., Bend, Ore., Truckee, Calif., all made the list along with Victor/Driggs, Idaho – where “you can find a sophisticated meal near stunning mountains and miles and miles of wilderness,” the magazine stated.
Silicon Valley’s Mercury News did some ranking of their own. William Brand ran down a short list of the best holiday beers in the nation. Grand Teton Brewing Company scored a 3.5-star rating (out of a possible four) for their Bitch Creek Double ESB. The Victor-based brewery is celebrating their 20th anniversary, by the way. PJH
