Improv to make J Hole sick with laugher
The Laff Staph Comedy Improv Group will infect Jackson at 8 and 9:30 p.m., Friday and Saturday, in Off-Square’s Black Box Theatre.
The free show may very well be standing-room only, as the group’s first, unannounced weekend last month saw 50 people the first night and 70 the second. Black Box holds 120
people.
The Laff Staph, an all-local comedy troupe, meets Sundays topractice and study technique with Todd Hjelt, a familiar face in area theatrefor more than a decade. Improv comedy is Hjelt’s first love, the theatre’s Emy diGrappa.
Hoping to make the performance monthly, the improv group will feature seven or eight performers, unrehearsed, unprepared . . . unwashed? The content will definitely be for adults, diGrappa said.
