Jackson Hole, Wyo. – Grant applications are now available for projects geared toward sustaining Jackson Hole’s natural resources and “related qualities.”

Beginning its fourth grant cycle today, 1% for the Tetons also announced a revised grant process.

Applications are available at www.1percenttetons.org.

According to information supplied the nonprofit??s founder, Jonathan Schechter, the 2010 grant process will include a few changes from previous years.

First, applicants will provide a two-page description of the proposed project by Feb. 22 for an initial review by board members of 1%’s parent organization, The Charture Institute.

Projects that pass the board will then submit more detailed descriptions of their projects and prepare a five-minute presentation for the inaugural Sustainability Grants Conference on May 8, where 1% members will have the opportunity to determine to which projects their contributions will go and at what percentage.

Individuals and businesses that are not 1% members will also have the opportunity to fund these projects online.

Over the last three years, 1% has provided 27 projects with a total of more than $370,000.

Previous grant-winning projects include “Residential Wetland Wastewater Treatment Demonstration Project” by Teton Conservation District; “Vegetation Mapping: A Missing Link in Wildlife Protection in Teton County by Jackson Hole Conservation Alliance; “The Wolfensohn Challenge: Staying Competitive in a Changing Energy World” by the Town of Jackson/Wolfensohn Challenge; “Removing Lead from our Wildlife and Wildlands” Craighead Beringia South; “Trail Creek Stakeholders’ Stream Flow Restoration Initiative” by Friends of the Teton River; “Amphibian Education and Awareness Program” by Jackson Hole Wildlife Film Festival; “Public Advocates on Waste Management” by Teton Valley Community Recycling; and “Karns Meadow Stormwater Wetland” by Teton Conservation District.
