Jackson Hole, Wyo.-A Uintah County man with deep ties to agriculture has added his name to the governor’s race.
Republican Ron Micheli, of Fort Bridger, in the southwest corner of the state, will run for the office that is now expected to be vacated by Gov. Dave Freudenthal, who is facing term limits.
Micheli, a fourth generation rancher in Ft. Bridger, according to his Web site, will run against at least two other Republicans whose ancestors settled Wyoming, including Teton County native Matt Mead.
Micheli is no newcomer to Wyoming politics. He is a former state representative and was director of the Wyoming Dept. of Agriculture.
In 2007, Micheli was a finalist in the special election to fill the U.S. Senate seat of the late Sen. Craig Thomas, ultimately losing to John Barrasso.
