Bringing back bikes

Wednesday, February 03, 2010

By Christie Koriakin

Jackson Hole, Wyo.-It’s the time of year where most everyone, except for those crazy enough to risk their lives on ice-skating rink roads, has abandoned their bikes in exchange for a more snow friendly mode of transportation. But even if you aren’t willing to ride in the snow, you don’t have to throw your bike to the wayside.

Fitzgerald’s wants to keep you riding throughout these blustery months.
They are hosting the first of what could turn into a series of indoor virtual bike races.
Riders can watch themselves compete against their competitors on a big screen television that will simulate a hilly bike race.

A bracket style competition will narrow down the fastest riders. Prizes, like free bar tabs at 43 North, will be awarded.

Roller Racing will take place, 6:30 p.m., Wednesday, at 43 North.  Sign Up to Race at the Bar. Free. 734-6886. fitzgeraldsbicycles.com.

Bike riding the roads in Winter is easy and fun. Outdoor winter cycling is much safer and fun then skiing or driving. Those who risk their life on skis and behind the wheel are far more crazy.
