Group rallies for Healthcare Reform

Wednesday, February 17, 2010

By Christie Koriakin

Jackson Hole, Wyo.-Wyoming for Health Care Reform, a Jackson-based group, will rally at noon on Wednesday in the hope that they can win the attention of Wyoming’s congressional delegation, who are on February recess. The event will coincide with a national rally organized by Health Care For America Now.

The rally is meant to boost morale for local supporters of healthcare reform, which has come to a grinding halt, said Sandy Shuptrine, an event organizer. Gary Trauner, a state Democratic leader and former candidate for U.S. Congress, will speak about what he believes it will take for Washington lawmakers to get past the deadlock.
Shuptrine said that this was a bipartisan event intended not as a protest, but as a gathering to further the goal of providing access to affordable healthcare to all Americans.

“We encourage everyone to come out and help us catch our elected officials’ attention,” said Shuptrine.

I am not in favor of this or other wealth distribution projects. I go without services (including medical and dry cleaning) and goods (including medicine and Sirus radio)because I don't have the money for them. I would never dream of sending people with guns to take money from other people to pay for these goods or services that I want/need. I respectfully ask my neighbors to also respect the money I have earned.

Can I get Universal housing, paid for by my neighbors (in Jackson Hole of course) too?
more cheese please

Only a loser doesn't know when they've lost.

Gary Trauner is washed up and the funding for his ideas has dried up. Why follow him off a clif? Universal Health Care Debate is over because now everyone understands there is no way to pay for it. The reason you are currently unemployed is due to the Democrates control of Congress for the last 3 years and Oboma for the last year. Teton County has turned the corner on the liberal movement and will return to it's Conservative Wyoming roots.

Why not just give every Ameican a million dollars?Because the law of unintnded consquences whould insure the ruin of our economic system. Universal health care??? Same result. Try living in Cuba - the economic theories of Karl Marx and the American Left worked out real well there. These people know nothing of logic, science, or Adam Smith. Medicare is so extremely efficient and cost effective -why not have the govt just take the entire system over? Pardon me while I vomit. Good luck bankrupting the rest of our country, Democrats.

A Smith : what you don't think of is the social contract. If you don't want to pay for everyone's medical bills why don't you move out of America?
Dianne Garrimann

Dianne: If you DO want to pay for everyone's med bills etc, why don't you move to Canada or Russia ?
TY

Dianne Garrimann: What a brilliant argument! The same used by Stalin, Hitler, and Castro. Either: A) agree a failed national policy via a "social contract" or B) leave OR C) in the case of aformentioned leaders AND Obama, Reid, and Pelosi, WE WILL FORCE YOU TO PARTICIPATE IN THE SOCIAL CONTRACT. You might consider reading Atlas Shrugged, since we are living through Rand's nightmare at the present time. Failed programs like Social Security, Medicare, and Medicade are close to bankrupting America. Social Contracts? Forced participation? Do you have any idea what our national debt is, INCLUDING UNFUNDED MANDATES??? Let me guess; you have a degree in "history" or perhaps "political science", or possibly some other field where you're simply taught the fallacy affirming the consequent by slobering, leftist, UNION professors with tenure. Socialism is such a fantastic success!!!! Social contracts on the house!!! Do you understand the mathematics of a 2% rise in the long bond's effect on the national debt? Do you understand the waste, fraud, and abuse inherent in already bloated national health programs? I think not. How's that hope and change working out for ya?
A Smith

A Smith : what you don't think of is the social contract. If you don't want to pay for everyone's medical bills why don't you move out of America? Dianne Garrimann. WOW! Dianne: you just summarized the Democratic Party’s philosophy in a nutshell: if you don’t go along with our “social contract”, then you’re “un-American” and you should just LEAVE! There is great irony here. America was founded by liberals, but they were quite different from American “liberals” of today. They were liberals rebelling against a form of tyranny called Mercantilism. Mercantilism is a set of failed ideas, namely: The government knows better than the individual Economic wealth derives from resources, not mutual gains from trade amongst individuals Free trade is bad Power should be concentrated in a central government Sound familiar? It sure does – sounds very much like the platform of the Democratic Party. American “liberals” are simply Mercantilists in donkey’s clothing. They are the arch nemeses of the original liberals, known to us as the founding fathers. To reduce confusion, original liberals now call themselves “classical liberals”; in most parts of the world this is the definition the word ” liberal” still evokes. The Democrats are demanding that power of health care decisions be usurped by the federal government – taken from individuals and concentrated in a centrally-planned bureaucracy so as to “cover everyone”. This so called “logic” is DOOMED to failure, and is precisely the reason the Soviet Union failed: many individuals making many separate decisions is far more efficient than a central bureaucracy deciding what is best for the masses. If centrally-planned, nationalized systems were more productive and efficient, then Zimbabwe, Venezuela, and Cuba would have the highest GDP on the planet. Unfortunately, the political left is not real good at deriving logical conclusions from large sets of data.
Thomas Paine

The power of health care is now controlled by a corrupt insurance system and government in collusion with them. It is far from a free market system as they would like you to believe. We spend far more than the rest of the world for great coverage for a few and none for a whole lot. The whole lot is increasing daily due to a failure of the economic system as the result of deregulation and speculation by so called free market types. If they weren't backed buy you and I the whole system would have collapsed long ago. I know some think the Wyoming medical plan is a good one. You know what it is right. If you need help we will have a spaghetti feed for you so you can beg your neighbors for help. Soon the insurance industry will have spaghetti banned so they can take your house quicker. So look at what happened as soon as the health care was killed by the insurance industry. Huge rate increases. Free market I am sure. Maybe just a coincidence. Ya right! If you free market types new how insurance worked it is obvious that the only way to have reasonable rates is to have lots of healthy people on your policies. And when they get old or ill move them off to medicare. Who set things up that way. Must have been the insurance companies if you ask me. No wonder medicare is so expensive, the insurance companies get all the good policies and we get stuck with all the bills. Believe in the free market,? Dream on we don't have anything like that here! Haven't for at least 100 years. Think the ones who created this mess want it fixed? Keep on dreaming. They just want more for them selves. They deserve it after all they stole it fare and square while we weren't looking. So just keep kicking old people out of the houses to give profits to the insurance industry and quit complaining about how some communist conspiracy wants to make you pay for there gain. Where were all the great republican plans when they were in charge? Where are they now? Cowboy up and get a life.
Donh

Donh: Either you are still in high school, or you're another Dennis Kucinich style far left nut with a tinfoil hat. You utterly and completely fail to understand history. There is not ONE SINGLE EXAMPLE of ANY government running an industry efficiently in the history of this planet – if you know of one, please tell us about it. Mr. Chavez is having such great success taking over industry in Venezuela, is he not? What has the GDP growth been in Cuba since 1959? Prior to 1959? Any ideas? Many industries were nationalized in the UK in the decades following WWII. The results of nationalization were catastrophic, and led directly to the election of Maggie Thatcher. The resulting GDP growth from privatization in subsequent years is well known. How do you think the economic conditions in East Germany looked the day after the Berlin Wall fell? The standard of living in West Germany was STUNNINGLY higher than it’s Eastern brother after four and a half decades of a wall dividing the country. The difference? West Germany allowed prices to fluctuate and allowed private firms do business; some made profits, others failed. The government of DDR took over industries, just as you and your ignorant ilk propose to do to our health care system. The DDR set prices of goods and services, just as you propose to do in America. The resulting shortages and poverty creation in East Germany are legendary. Like so many arrogant, condescending left-wing nuts, you simply dismiss overwhelming evidence of Pareto or near-Pareto optimal resource allocation in market economies as simply benefitting “fat cats” and leading to “collusion”. Just like Karl Marx, you point to Capitalism’s failings as an excuse for government to take of the entire economy. In Capitalism, some are poor. In Socialism, EVERYONE is poor. Zimbabwe, Cuba, and Venezuela are proving this today. The many many countries that were the former Soviet Union proved that in the past century. You seem to think that socialism is a great idea that simply got some bad press. Why don’t YOU “cowboy up” and move to a socialist economy? Pretty unlikely. Instead, you simply suck at the udder of capitalism while screaming for the government to intervene to control prices and industries. Our economy is just like the ecosystem in Yellowstone. If the government intervenes to feed some failing animals, they cause the eventual failure of the entire ecosystem. Marx was wrong. Adam Smith was right. Get used to it. Let me know how those midterm elections work out for all you tinfoil hat nuts.
Thomas Paine

Yes, Donh, our system has CLEARLY FAILED! This is why every day, tens of thousands of American citizens risk life and limb to sneak across the Mexican border to live in Mexico. Their sysem is FAR mare efficient than ours!!!
A. Smith
