Jackson Hole, Wyo. – Starting tonight, area residents have three more chances to see their friends and neighbors in Jackson Hole Community Theater's production of "Cumberland Blues."
On Friday, playwright Michael Norman Mann will be in attendance, and
he'll stick around afterwards for a question-and-answer session.
More than 65 Jackson Hole residents will appear in the show, many or most of them without any stage experience.
Cumberland Blues melds the lyrics of
Jerry Garcia and Robert Hunter, into the depression-era story of two
sons reunited to settle their father’s estate, consisting primarily of a coal mine. The
father, Peter Jones Sr., posthumously asks that his estate be settled by a game of poker, which is the method by which he won the mine.
The brothers, along with various town characters, gamble it out in an
all-night, winner-takes-all battle. I won’t tell you who wins, but I
will tell you that this raucous group of amateur performers, ready to
burst into song at the slightest provocation is worth taking a chance
on. JHW
