Tis' the season

Wednesday, July 21, 2010

By Benjamin R. Bombard

Jackson Hole, Wyo.-Signs of the season are springing up around Jackson. And no, we’re not talking about the silvery lupine blossoms that mark mid-summer in Western Wyoming. Voting season is officially here, and you can tell because candidate signs are popping up on lawns around town. County regulations dictate that signs can’t be posted until 30 days before an election, according to County clerk Sherry Daigle.

And all signs have to be picked up within five days after an election. That’s a lot different from Fremont County, where no such regulations exist and election signs are posted months before elections. Sublette County repealed regulations stipulating how early candidates can post lawn signs. However, they must be taken down seven days after a primary election.  JHW
