Kayla's ideal weekend
Thursday, August 26, 2010
By Kayla Diane Sanders
Since it's already after 7:30 p.m. on Thursday night, I won't
bother with going on and on about how devastated I am that to be missing the
legend that is Herbie Hancock. To make things better, I'll drink a beer, think
about tomorrow night's adventures, and possibly try to catch the end of the
Honey Dew Drops playing at the Old Wilson Schoolhouse, considering it's
directly behind my house. Friday night will begin with a drink at the Brew Pub,
then a walk over to the Center of the Arts for Thomas Macker's exhibit, Western
Heritage. I cannot resist a strange art show such as his, and neither should
you. Then, I will make my way over to my current place of employment, the Mangy
Moose to see Chuck Prophet. If he's “Tom Petty-esque in his delivery,” as JH
Weekly suggests, then I will have no problem listening over a spicy margarita. Saturday
will begin with heartburn and a possible hangover, but an early morning trip
over to the Farmer's Market is necessary to get my veggies for the night's
feast that I will prepare before checking out Jackson's Grateful Dead cover
band, David Gans and The Deadlocks. I honestly can not say what I think they
will be like, but I'm not a Dead-Head, so it could be good, or not. The
journalist in me must find out for herself. JHW
