Outta here
I was supposed to write a moon, decrying something in our community. But all I can think about is going to the Bonnaroo Music Festival in Manchester, Tenn. I hit the road in a matter of hours with a free ticket in my back pocket and nothing but the open road. I haven’t been to a music festival of this caliber in five years, during which time when I felt too cool to attend.
I dislike hippies and didn’t want to associate myself with that whole scene. But then I thought: Everyone hates hippies and hippies don’t exist anymore anyway. And as far as avoiding obnoxious people, I’ll be giving a wide berth to the Wide Spread Panic stage. Besides, the music line up at these events have changed.
I look forward to seeing back to back: the Kings of Leon, The Roots, Tool, El-P, and then capped off with Billy Martin and John Medeski in the Blue Note sponsored jazz tent – Rich told me I had to see some jazz. I’ll let you know how it goes, if I make it out alive.
— Sam PetriFeathers and leathersThis is what makes America so great – and also why we’re looked down upon by so much of the world: This past weekend, 250 exotic dancers were set to gather in Las Vegas for the Miss Exotic World Pageant and to attempt to set two world records.
First, they were going to unwind a feather boa that was more than a mile long – yes a world record-setting boa created by a company called Ostrich.com – 5,000-plus feet of pink-dyed feathers on a scarf. If that’s not impressive enough, the ostrich people and Miss Exotic people also were going to stage the world’s largest bump ’n’ grind.
No word yet on whether their records were indeed accepted by the Guinness people.
