Wolves are wildlife too
In response to the whole “should wolves be hunted in Wyoming” debate, I  must say that I am ashamed at the violent rage people hold for these beautiful animals and the persistence people have to kill them. I do understand and respect the fact that ranchers who have livestock that they rely on as their income need to at times rid of a wolf that is killing their animals.

However, it seems ludicrous that hunters are wanting to kill them in great numbers simply because they are killing elk, moose, etc...Why should wolves be punished in great numbers because they are trying to survive? It seems as though people want to punish them because they are gifted with extreme hunting skills.

Would a hunter kill a fellow hunter if he shot the prize elk or moose he wanted? No. So why should wolves be punished for this? Are they supposed to go vegetarian?  The whole “wolves are killing our wildlife” part of this whole debate is absurd. Wolves are a part of wildlife just as elk, moose, bear, and mountain lions are.

Though I can see ranchers who have problems with wolves having a right to kill ones that are a menace on their property, to hunt them and have a “wolf season” is not fair to these beautiful creatures, simply because they are killing elk and moose to survive, as they always have. Long ago, Native Americans co-habitated with these great hunters and did just fine. They not only co-habitated with them, they respected them. We should do the same.

Nay Bernake
As of this afternoon, Federal Reserve Chairman Ben S. Bernanke was voted in for a second term by over 60 percent of the Senate despite Bernanke’s criminal acts and blatant refusal for any accountability for trillions of USA taxpayers dollars gone and where they went and to whom in these “Bailouts” that affect ALL USA Citizens beyond to our great-great grandchildren now born in debt for millions they know nothing of. I find this vote a most despicable act of betrayal beyond Benedict Arnold in the 1700’s.

I will give you those who voted “YEA” for criminal Bernanke on the senate roster and see that Wyoming Senators John Barrasso and Mike Enzi despite many protests by Wyoming Constituents of both bipartisan votes who wrote to them demanding accountability of the Fed and Bernanke only to be tossed away like trash or worse, toilet-paper. I just wanted to say “thanks” to Barrasso and Enzi for blatant betrayal of both Wyoming constituents as well as all USA citizens.

This makes me wonder who they really serve indeed. Because the Senate has become a hotbed of vice, bribes and sellouts to corrupt lobbies like AIPAC among many of the last 8 years plus. Anyone can see videos online of Bernanke avoiding any disclosure and accountability before the Senate and House Members of our USA Congress.  Someone is laughing all the way to the Bank at the Fed now at our Expense unaccounted for and betrayed by our Congress yet again.  Again, thanks for nothing but betrayal, Senators Barrasso and Enzi.

Both GOP & Democrats need only look at truth even if they don’t like what they see and get their heads out of the sand... or let democracy die to republic for empire.  Is that what you citizens in Wyoming want really?

wolves kill only for sport. they consume only a small portion of their kill, then go kill some more. sometime not even eating any of their kill. they must be kept in check, not eliminated, so other species can thrive. they are hunted in montana and idaho on a limited controlled quota basis. not in wyoming, yet.

I think Erin totally misunderstands the basic premise of hunting, aside from food, resource management. Too many wolves, just like too many elk, moose, etc, have a negative impact on the rest of the ecosystem. If not controlled correctly, and the wolves are left to grow, the food for us (elk, moose, etc) as well as other larger predatory animals who rely on elk, moose, etc as a source of food will perish. On the economic side, ranchers should have every right to protect their income from loss. Retail stores use loss prevention officers, magnetic alarms, surveillance cameras and the like to prevent loss of income from thieves. It is the same concept but using different means. A rancher cannot simply call the cops and have the wolf pack thrown in jail to see the judge in the morning, they must be killed when caught stealing their income.

I personally believe that maybe Jay totally misunderstands how nature works. Right now, elk and deer numbers are way out of control. Why do you think we have all these feed grounds set up to keep them alive artificially, not to mention spreading disease? What happened all those thousands of years before humans got here and shot all of the wolves? If they were capable of decimating an entire species, there would be no elk or deer anywhere. The wolves right now are like kids in a candy store. There is so much food for them, they don't have to rely on eating an entire carcass to survive. They are adding balance to this ecosystem which is completely off balance right now. Their instinct is to chase and kill whatever runs from them. This kept their species alive until humans got here. More wolves does equal less elk and deer, which means less spreading of disease, which is good for ranchers. How many cattle have been killed by wolves versus herds who have been slaughtered because of brucellosis? That's a serious question, I don't have any idea.
