How long must we idle?
I fervently support Mary Neal and her outstanding son. We should turn off our engines if we expect to idle longer than how many seconds? To my knowledge, you've never addressed this question.
– Bob Morris,Teton Village

Sarcasm for Beck
I was especially pleased and flattered with Glenn Beck's appreciation of us last 3rd of July. I consider the highest and most admirable form of praise to be that which is accompanied by denigration of others. Glenn is wonderful in this way. He opened with due pleasure at our abundance of American flags, then delved deeply into a disturbing and unfortunate 4th in Philadelphia where there were not enough flags for his taste and worse, the performer was Elton John.

Also, to add insult to injury, it was a benefit for AIDS. I could feel all of our hearts collectively sink as his hand. A low collective moan resonated through the thousands. This warmed my heart and made me feel one with my countrymen (and women, kids, animals, and vegetation). It was a perfect opening for the brilliant performance to follow.
– Lia Kass, Teton Valley

Camen Correction
The Q&A article in the July 7-13 issue of the JH Weekly [“The Natural Candidate”] covering my candidacy in the mayoral race for Jackson contained one misstatement that I would like to correct.  Regarding the Karns Meadow construction activities, the sentence regarding impervious surface should read:  "Make sure we have less impervious surface (not more) so we don't have a growing problem of runoff, which pollutes Flat Creek..."
– Franz Camenzind, Jackson

Reader Comments

The Town can't even quantify the idling "problem" in Jackson. While the town focuses on idle cars even bigger threats go unpunished because those resources generate tax revenue -- planes flying into Jackson do far far more damage to Planet Jackson Hole. Additionally, cops pushing the Town's political correctness on others just furthers the distaste for local cops. We have too many cops if they have time to enforce this.

That's just it, eyes. We have traffic enforcement going wanting as it is. Also budget cust have depleted both town and county law enforcement coverage. How are they going to enforce no idling when red light runners, stop sign runners, left turns witout yielding, no right tun on red violators (the list goes on) get a free pass? Otherwise, I'm on Bob's side: outside of a traffic light, I don't idle.
