Council Chronicles: Big leagues; plat origami; decimal points

Jackson Hole, Wyo.-
ESPN
The city of Jackson announced that former city employee Tyler Sinclair has officially rejoined the big club after a reconditioning stint in the minors. Terms of the contract were not disclosed but one source close to the team said Sinclair is first in line to receive an affordable home from the Housing Trust.

Mayor Mark Barron acknowledged the impressive accomplishments of the Jackson Broncs over the past year on the gridiron, groomed trail, hardwood, and in the pool and classroom. The Broncs are racking up state titles faster than roaches pile up in Willie Nelson’s ashtray. Speaking of Willie, Neal broke a skinny skiing record and Davis Fay – whose mom had to convince NaG reporters was “a human boy” after the Eagle Scout genius aced his ACT – is the head of the class.

Mapping the future look of Jackson
“If this is a condo plat, what am I missing?” pondered Bob Lenz. “I expect common areas but I don’t see them. And where are the parking units?” Lenz wrestled with an ill-behaved, butcher paper blueprint the size of Honda Civic, folding and spindling and mutilating the broadsheet while constantly smashing it into his microphone so that no one could hear anything over the rustling.

“Bob’s observation is well-taken,” responded applicant John Jay Kornoff, pretending he heard anything Lenz was saying above the racket. Kornoff offered to add shading to clarify the map, which Lenz had since folded to the shape of a jib topsail the size of Oklahoma and, with the right headwind, could have paraglided right out of the room.
Once Lenz got his Origami project looking like the south end of Powderhorn Plaza, the council unanimously passed Kornoff’s restructure of ownership.

Green, green grass of home
Looking down from the top of Snow King at the burgeoning little town that Davey Jackson built it’s impossible not to notice some open space on the eastside. Especially impossible if you are a developer.

Greg Prugh (Dos Diablos) pitched his 28 housing units on 17 lots at 180 Rancher Street and 155 Nelson Drive to the council. The tricky, dual-zoned property looks strangely out of place, like Central Park in the middle of Manhattan or horse manure on a city street.
Due to a calculation error, Prugh was not dinged sufficiently by the Housing Authority.

The HA was willing to let Prugh skate by with an $11,797 fee-in-lieu for the .79 affordable housing unit he was short. Prugh offered to just go ahead and build a whole unit at his nearby Margaret Jaster addition. Sinclair did some fast calculating and pointed out that, somehow, an extra bedroom would satisfy only .75 of Two Devils’ affordable housing duty.

“What are we talking about; point zero, zero ... let’s just call it good,” the Mayor said, asking for a vote. The project passed, 4-1, with Lenz dissatisfied with the lack of sidewalks, which neighbors on Nelson Drive didn’t want anyway.
