Jackson Hole, Wyo.-Jackson Mayor Mark Barron announced this week his intentions to run for re-election in the fall.
On Tuesday, Barron, who is currently serving his third two-year term as mayor, said he would again run for the Town of Jackson’s most visible elected seat in November.
“I am both inspired and enthusiastic about the potential to serve another term in office,” Barron said in a release. “I’ve been blessed to work with some of the most creative and hard-working people, on meaningful and important projects during my time as Mayor.”
In the statement, Barron identified as his goals: energy and resource conservation, a more unified town-county government, a focus on rewriting the Comprehensive Plan, supporting the “Town as Heart” development philosophy and continuing to preserve and restore wildlife habitat.
Barron ran unopposed in the last election, in 2006.
In addition to serving as mayor, a post he said occupies most of his time, Barron is a local business owner. He is the proprietor of High Country Linen.
Barron will not be able to officially file his candidacy until May 15, the first day of the two-week filing window for persons interested in running for office at both the town and county levels.
Barron, a native of Massachusetts, has lived in the valley since 1975.
