Supper is served at Coffee Cabin in Alpine
Three weeks ago, Coffee Cabin owner John Thomas started a Supper Club
to meet every Friday and Saturday night at the coffee shop and bakery
in Alpine. He’s been bringing in a jazz duo to provide live music,
hosting an open mic night and serving up tasty entrees that are
reasonably priced.
“Instead of going to a bar or fancy restaurant, I wanted something very
casual – somewhere to hang out that’s not a bar,” Thomas said.
Patrons can enjoy $12-14 entrees and are free to bring their own beer
or wine. For entrees, Thomas has offered lemon-herb catfish, meatloaf
and mashed potatoes, marinated chicken salad on a bed of spinach, veal
ravioli and chicken alfredo, to name a few.
As a full bakery, the Coffee Cabin can also satisfy sweet tooths with
carrot cake, German chocolate cake, cheesecakes, mini fruit pies,
cookies and brownies.
“The goal is to have something different every time you walk in the place,” Thomas said.
“The local public has been wonderful and they have been amazed that there is a place like this in Alpine.”
The Coffee Cabin does not take reservations for the Supper Club, which can accommodate 38 people.
Dinner is served from 5-8:30 p.m. on Fridays and Saturdays.
Call the Coffee Cabin at (307) 654-3872 for more information or stop by its location on Hwy. 89 in downtown Alpine.
Wine Festival gets underway in Idaho Falls
The Idaho Falls Arts Council puts on Eastern Idaho’s largest wine
festival 5-9 p.m. on Friday at the Shilo Inn. Festival-goers can sample
over 400 wines from all over the world.
“Premium wines have a surprisingly enthusiastic following in Eastern
Idaho,” the Arts Council’s Carrie Getty said in press materials, “which
is why this festival has grown into ‘the’ event for wine dabblers and
connoisseurs alike.”
Tickets cost $20 in advance and $22 at the door and include a special
tasting glass. With the ticket, you can taste wines from vineyards in
Oregon, California, Washington, France, Chile, Australia and New
Zealand.
Attendees can also bid on silent auction items including baskets of
wine, wine glasses and racks, gourmet snacks and gift certificates.
Wines will also be for sale by the bottle or the case.
Tickets are available in Idaho Falls at MarCellar’s, Great Harvest
Bakery, Vino Rosso, the Cellar and the Idaho Falls Arts Council; in
Pocatello at the Grapevine; in Driggs at Dark Horse Books; and at the
door.
All proceeds benefit the Idaho Falls Arts Council. For more information, call (208) 522-0471.
