Give it to me straight
Some of you order double-skinny-mocha-chai-latte-supremes at 7 a.m. Give me my medium regular and get out of my way. If your caffeinated drink has shots of caramel, whipped crème, steamed milk and sprinkles, it’s not even coffee anymore; it’s a cup of pretension. That’s OK, treat yourself – you just came from yoga.
Jackson Hole Roasters, in the funky log shack on East Broadway just this side of Willow, has everything I need. No line, a giant vat of coffee, and a tin can that says “Honor Jar.” Just drop in $1.25 for a small, $1.50 for a medium, or $1.75 for a large, and you’re drinking Jackson Hole’s best coffee brewed directly from the source. Thanks, Jack, for keeping me sane.

Oh, the humanity …
Back in the old days, “off season” was synonymous with “great deals at restaurants.” Just finding a place to eat out is a challenge. But the food drought is about to let up, albeit gradually.
Cascade Grill House and Spirits inside the Teton Mountain Lodge at Teton Village, and Teton Thai, in the Stage Stop Mall across from the Teton Theater, are set to reopen on April 21.
Chinatown, 850 W. Broadway, is due to reopen on April 22. Trio, at 45 S. Glenwood, and Mizu Sushi, at 3465 N. Pines Way, off the Village Road are closed through April 23. Also the Pine Restaurant will reopen for lunch on that date.
Nikai Asian grill and sushi bar, at 225 N. Cache, will reopen on April 25.
Q Roadhouse Barbeque on the Village Road will reopen on April 26.
The Million Dollar Cowboy Steakhouse, on the west side of the Town Square, remains closed for the rest of April.
The Gun Barrel Steak and Game House, 862 W. Broadway, will reopen on May 4
Route 89 Smokehouse Diner, at 455 N. Cache, will reopen on May 5.
Bon Appe Thai, at 245 W. Pearl, is scheduled to reopen on May 7. Rendezvous Bistro, 380 S. Highway 89, reopens on May 10.
The Snake River Grill, upstairs at Crabtree Corner, and the Mangy Moose Saloon in Teton Village reopen for the season on May 11.
And Stieglers, in the Aspens off the Village Road, will reopen on May 23.
