Until a few weeks ago, if you were heading north out of town and forgot to pick up your coffee, you had to suffer through a cup of gas station joe. Now that the Mug Shot is on the scene, there will be no suffering.
A drive-thru coffee, espresso, smoothie and snack shack, the Mug Shot, located on N. Cache in front of Orville’s, serves Ibis Coffee from Logan, Utah, blended drinks, fruit smoothies, toasted bagels and breakfast sandwiches. The bagels and other baked goods are delivered daily from a shop in Alpine.
“We’re trying to fill the need of good coffee, espresso and smoothies for people coming in from the north or going out north,” said Eric Grove, who owns the Mug Shot with Charlie Schwartz.
The cabin that houses the Mug Shot was for sale down in Alpine and Grove and Schwartz decided to move it up to Jackson and give it a fresh paint job. Open seven days a week from 6 a.m. to 7 or 8 p.m., the Mug Shot has been garnering a steady clientele from locals and tourists, Grove said.
Prices for coffee are comparable with other shops in town, starting at $1.75. The fruit and berry selection for smoothies ($4.75) is quite broad, ranging from guava to boysenberry to mango. The Mug Shot also serves milkshakes for $3.75.
There are a few outdoor picnic tables for walk-up customers though the Mug Shot is designed as a drive-thru primarily.
Look for the sign on the west side of the road and stop through the Mug Shot for a little pick me up. Give them a call at 734-5130.
