Jackson Hole, Wyo.-A south Jackson cafe where many of the valley’s elected officials met for coffee and breakfast has shut its doors for good.
Hard Drive Cafe served its last cappuccino and “convertible” breakfast wrap last Thursday, marking the finale of a business that began in 2003.
Owner Ruth Ann Petroff, a Republican candidate for state representative, said she could now spend more time focusing on her campaign, as well as Snake River Roasting, an off-shoot business she co-owns.
Petroff had made no secret that the business was for sale. In an April interview conducted at the start of her candidacy, she said she was looking to transfer Hard Drive “to a good home.”
Originally located next to Domino’s Pizza, a business that became a top franchise under her former ownership, Hard Drive moved in June 2006 to the modern-looking building on the corner of Powderhorn Lane and Maple Way.
Petroff’s lease will be taken over by another businesswoman from the Jackson food industry, who will operate a similar cafe in the former Hard Drive.
The transfer was not complete by Tuesday, however, and Petroff asked that the new owner’s name be withheld.
Asked whether shutting the Hard Drive chapter was bittersweet, Petroff said, “No, it’s all sweet. I’m looking forward to being a customer for a change.”
