Bike Week wraps up this week

Bike Week is almost over in Jackson Hole, but a few more fun events await avid cyclists.
Friends of Pathways, Teton Wellness Institute and Jackson Hole Community Pathways are sponsoring a free keynote address by Dr. John Pucher. Pucher, a professor or urban planning and policy at Rutgers University, is a leading expert in non-motorized travel behavior research.

He has compared urban transportation and travel behavior in the U.S., Europe and Canada. An advocate of walking and cycling as a potential cure for America’s obesity problem, Pucher also argues for the reduction of America’s dependence on cars through increased bicycle use.

Pucher’s free talk will take place at 7 p.m. on Thursday in the Lodge Room at Snow King Resort. There also will be free beer from Snake River Brewing Company and a raffle.
Also, a women’s group ride will take place at 5:30 p.m. today. Meet at Fitzgerald’s Bicycles, behind the Brew Pub.

On Sunday, join other community members in the Brent Newton Memorial Father’s Day Ride. Interested riders should meet at Stilson Ranch on Hwy. 390 by the “Bike to School” signs. The ride goes from Stilson to Teton Village on the pathway.
