Light it up

Jackson Hole. Wyo.-An often missing piece of gear in the bike bin is a set of good lights. I’m not talking about your double A clip-on flasher that keeps you street legal. I mean sweet Lithium Ion, LED floodlights that keep you railing the singletrack and commuting to work long after the sun has disappeared. A good set of lights turns your everyday back yard trail into a brand new adventure.
You think riding up Ferrins is routine? Imagine riding in a tunnel of your own light, wondering what that noise was to your left and who owns the eyes you just spotted up ahead. Every rock in the trail looks new and each turn feels like you’ve never ridden here before. After an hour in the serene darkness, you feel as if you returned from an all-day epic.
Then you find yourself choosing to wait for darkness to hit before riding. If you want to make the most of it consider two lights – one for your handlebar and one for your helmet. The helmet light points where you are looking while the bar light keeps your depth perception in tack. Of course it’s not just for dirt riding. Your likely hood of keeping the daily commute alive is directly proportional to how many Lumens you’re packing.
