Weekend on the Highway

Just got back from our annual pilgrimage to the Beartooth Highway and even though I’ve been there a handful of times, I can’t stop raving about it! This is as close as it gets to riding one of those classic climbs in the Tour De France and makes for an awesome weekend getaway. We started off with a night in Cooke City, Mont. before beginning our ride.
The next day we rode 65 miles up and over to Red Lodge. reaching almost 11,000 feet. Come to find out, this is the highest highway in the Northern Rockies. After a few pints, a few burgers, and a good night sleep we were back on the bikes for the return trip to Cooke City. Overall the roads are in good shape, the drivers are respectful, and the grades are generally below 7 percent (this is definitely not just a longer Teton Pass).
So what are you waiting for? Pick a weekend and take a quick trip to road bike paradise.
