Cyclocross season

Tuesday, September 29, 2009

By Scott Fitzgerald

Jackson Hole, Wyoming - Just because our summer weather is showing the first signs of fading doesn’t mean your cycling season is over.  Sure, you could spend the next two months passively waiting for your first face shots of winter.  Or, you could dive into Cyclocross racing and keep your bike stoke alive!  Cyclocross is bike racing for racers and non-racers alike.  Short, technical courses with high spectator visibility combined with nasty fall weather make for a perfect afternoon in the saddle.  Of course specific “cross bikes” work the best, but mountain bikes are totally fine to use.  Head over to Pioneer Park this Thursday night from 5:30 p.m. ‘til dark for an intro to cross practice night before your first race in Victor this weekend.  Be sure to bring the kids too - the under12 race was the highlight last year!

Mark these local races on your fall calender: Saturday - Victor Cross Series #1
Oct. 17-18  - MooseCross (Victor Cross Series #2)
Oct. 31 - Spooky Cross (Victor Cross Series #3)
Nov. 7, 14, 21 - The Cube Series, Rexburg, ID

Stay tuned to MooseCross.com and victorcrossseries.com for race info and more cross practice nights in the coming weeks.
