Jackson Hole, Wyo.-In 1966, the ditch from Lupine Way to South Pass Traverse at Jackson Hole Mountain Resort nearly took the life of ski patroller Dick Porter. After a 55-minute burial, the patrolman made it out alive. The tricky terrain trap became known as Dick’s Ditch.
This weekend, skiers and snowboarders will take on the banked slaloms of the 12th annual Dick’s Ditch Classic. The natural terrain of the course is supplemented by man-made features designed to challenge even the most experienced skier or snowboarders.
Winners receive up to $600 dollars and eternal bragging rights.
Dick’s Ditch Banked Slalom takes place Saturday and Sunday, 10:30 a.m., Jackson Hole Mountain Resort.
