Grand Targhee Resort is holding a week of events to promote adaptive skiing and raise money for adaptive programs.
Earlier this week, the resort hosted an adaptive immersion camp for “wounded warriors,” or disabled veterans as well as some of friends and relatives.
“It’s a good chance for them to go and just enjoy being at Targhee,” said Colin Dye, an adaptive skier familiar with the program.
The public will have the opportunity Friday to demo a sit ski and other adaptive equipment, as well as experience what it’s like to be blind guided, the way visually-impaired skiers are led down the mountain.
The first ever Fun Race Fundraiser for Teton Adaptive Sports will be held Saturday. Individuals and groups are encouraged to don costumes for the event, and prizes will go to top racers and those who raised the most money, which goes toward adaptive equipment and scholarships. -BC
