Where’s the dirt?

Jackson Hole, Wyo.-Unfortunately, most of our dirt is still under snow, but some dirt has shown itself. It’s important to remember that our area trails are beginning to dry out, but not as fast as most would like. Please give the trails adequate time to dry so ruts are not created that may last all summer long. The two trails that I have been riding on and off are the Cache Creek Sidewalk and most of the Putt-Putt trail. If you come across a muddy section of trail walk your bike rather than riding.
Encountering long stretches of mud likely means you should turn back. If you can’t wait for our trails to dry out you can travel to areas that are riding well. The three closest places to ride include Pocatello, Idaho (2.5 hours), Green River, Wyoming (3 hours), and Vernal, Utah (5 hours). When heading to Poci, check out the City Creek and Trail Creek. Other good options include the Mink Creek area. Green River, has two great options. Pick Your Poison and Brent and Mikes are sure to make you glad you made the drive.
Lunatic Fringe isn’t for everyone, but is another fun option for those living on the edge. Green River will be opening a 3.5-acre bike park June 5 that promises to be awesome. In Vernal, Utah you will find multiple trail networks. I’m a big fan of Can You Moo? and Upper Moo. Congratulations to Scott and Jannine Fitzgerald on the birth of their new son, Bradon.
