Local man ends 3 year ‘drought’ after SATC

JACKSON HOLE, WYO. - A valley resident described by friends as increasingly withdrawn and “jaded” due to an extended period of time without success with a female partner used last week’s premier of the “Sex and the City” movie to jumpstart his dating life.
Miguel P. Burns, a Jackson Hole bike mechanic originally from Cincinnati, Ohio, said, somewhat cryptically that he had not had “an unpaid date with a biologically born woman since, like, 2005.”

But when “Sex and the City,” the film hotly anticipated by women ages 17 to 44 premiered last weekend, Burns, 29, saw an opportunity.
“I mean, that’s all you heard them yapping about - that stupid movie,” he said. Burns said he was familiar with the “Sex and the City” television show, because a woman he dated in 2002 - his most recent lasting relationship - made him watch several seasons of the show on DVD.

Sensing that the film - about Manhattan women in their late-30s pursuing successful men and Louboutin heels - would bring out a newfound or newly remembered wild streak in typically reserved, single women in the valley, Burns hatched a plan.
“I thought, hey, that movie is playing over on Pearl Street, why not put on a crisp new shirt, spray on a little Versace Man Eau Fraiche and go sip dry gin martinis at some nearby bars,” he said.
The plan worked.

“It was evident who was out to see that lame-ass movie,” Burns said. “In Jackson, chicks never wear heels and those cocktail dresses, and they’re not usually apt to notice my pointy Ferragamo Italian shoes, either. So, when this movie came out, I knew I had to strike while they were caught up in some cosmopolitan daze and longing for metropolitan life,” said Burns, who holds a masters in business management from New York University.

He said one woman, a petite blonde wrapped in a Burberry cashmere pashmina, approached him at the bar and moved for him aggressively.
“She pushed her nose in my neck and just inhaled my cologne with her eyes closed,” he said. “That never happens in Jackson Hole.”
