Local dogs to trail-users: Woof!*

Dogs in Jackson Hole, yesterday, held a formal protest against shoeprints and bicycle tire marks left by humans on area trails.
In a procession stretching from Phil Baux Park to the Cache Creek trailhead (two town locations where dogs are actually allowed to play), Labradors, Huskys, hounds and rare breeds gave up the ball chase in solidarity to have their voices heard.
Not surprisingly, however, only local dog-whisperers understood what the dogs were saying.
The rest of Jackson was left confused, many dog-owners wondering how their pooches got out of the house. They stood in a line on Snow King Avenue whistling and calling names to no avail.
According to dog-whisperers on the scene, the dogs complained that they can hardly walk a trail anymore without coming across a shoeprint or bicycle track. Some of the paths are worn a foot or more deep by human traffic, despite the best efforts of trail crews to occasionally reroute paths.
Other bystanders, however, reported hearing a barking party, and feared that their dogs had been charmed by some sort of Pied Piper. JHW
